Delonix regia: Krishnachura

In Bengali, we call it as the Krishnachura, and in Hindi it’s called Gulmohar, it is the Delonix regia or Royal Poinciana in English. Everyone loves this tree for it’s vivid vermillion colored flowers.

This waterfall was shot automatically with a slow shutter speed, with a Kodak Easyshare V1003 camera. This resulted into the motion blur effect. This is somewhere in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.

At the place of origin of Narmada River there is an open pool known as Narmadakund. Around this are the temples: Narmada & Shiva temple, Kartikeya temple, Shri Ram Janki temple, Annapurna temple, Guru Gorakhnath temple, Sri Shuryanarayan temple, Vangeshwar Mahadev temple, Durga temple, Shiv Pariwar, Siddheswar Mahadev temple, Sri Radha Krishna temple, Eleven Rudra temple etc.

This was a lovely tree. But, at the onset of monsoon, someone came and cut all it’s branches. Because the tree-cutter thought that the tree was growing out of proportion. I think, the tree was pointing at it’s killer!

My mother

That day mom was in my room, she was talking on some serious issues; and my camera was ready in my hands. I decided to shoot a B/W candid portrait photo of her. This one is processed from a RAW file. Shooting in RAW gives you lot of scope to play with the post-processing.

In the deep summer heat, the temperature was around 45 degrees Celcius in Puri sea beach; the sand below my feet was burning my skin and the sun was too hard over my head. They sailed off from near the shore, I waited till they reached out a little far into the sea, then I zoomed in to get the nice waves around them.

Lone custodian of family’s footwear

She finished her bathing in the sea; but, when the whole family goes for bathing, someone has to sit with custody of wallets and footwear. I was about to turn back from the beach, when I saw her and clicked this photo.

Shooting a flower in macro mode without any special macro lens is difficult. This was shot at 1/40 sec., f/4, ISO-100 at 21 mm focal length with auto white balance. I used the Canon EF-S 18-55mm lens.
